The Masculine Bathroom

Although masculinity is widely represented by boldness and simplicity, the idea that a masculine bathroom must incorporate a monotone look, has already reached its peak. We’re in the middle of a shift toward a fresher, softer style that embraces a myriad of features and options not previously found in a masculine bathroom.

Add style with classic, retro accents or antiques to give the space history and age, especially on mirrors, cabinet pulls and sconces. Throw in vintage shaving accessories and vanity hardware and you’ve created a high-impact, layered look for the masculine side in all of us.

Marble, concrete, dark tiles, vintage appliances and the latest in gizmos and  gadgets create a luxurious bachelor pad from which to bathe. Where else but  masculine bathroom would you find a flat-screen or shaving station? Add splashes of red, green or blue to give the room depth. For rustic styles, bring the outdoors in, with re-purposed barn-board and fallen trees; boulders and brick; metals and mock waterfalls.

Furniture & Fixtures

Create a tranquil space that is rugged and loaded with character with vintage industrial light fixtures, dark and luxurious finishes and dark-wood hues and finishes. Raw wood paneling and rustic, unpainted planks are ideal for walls, ceilings and vanities to make them more cozy. Bring in bronze, iron and brass for plumbing fixtures to give the room an industrial injection.

Gizmos & Gadgets

Tech-savvy guys want to be plugged in even when they are scrubbing or shaving. Think “smart” to wireless control the temperature of the bath, volume of the speakers or ambient lighting. Some options you may want to consider are: LED faucet lighting (warm red light indicates hot water; blue, cold water); sensor lighting; peek-a-boo privacy glass; a built-in fog/steamer; and a flat-screen TV.
